Lewis Carroll’s
Wonderland
Follow the White Rabbit — a descent in five chapters, told as you fall.
Chapter I — Down the Rabbit-Hole
Down, down, down.
Would the fall never come to an end? Shelves and clocks and empty marmalade jars drifted past, and Alice had plenty of time to wonder what was going to happen next.
Chapter II — The Hall of Doors
One golden key.
Doors all round the hall, every one locked — and behind the smallest, a garden of bright flowers. On the table: a little bottle that said DRINK ME.
Chapter III — A Mad Tea-Party
It’s always six o’clock.
Time stopped at tea-time, so the table is always laid. “No room! No room!” they cried — though the table was a large one, and mostly empty.
Chapter IV — The Queen’s Croquet-Ground
Painting the roses red.
The gardeners planted a white rose-tree by mistake, and if the Queen were to find out, they should all have their heads cut off. So they paint — quickly, quietly.
Chapter V — The Verdict
“You’re nothing but a pack of cards!”
The whole pack rose up into the air and came flying down upon her — and Alice woke on the bank, with her head in her sister’s lap.
